Bonjour d'un petit lynx roux d'Anvers...

J'ai pensée que ce devient du temps pour rencontrer des furs et ça paraît que la majorité des furs Belgiques est ici.

Je comprends le Français quand ce n'est pas trop compliqué, mais je le parle seulement un très petit peu; j'espere que être ici peut améliorer ça...

Hello from a little red lynx from Antwerp...

I figured that it would be about time to meet a few furs and it seems that most Belgian ones can be found over here.

I understand French if it's not too complicated, but I only speak it a tiny bit (I'm originally Dutch, which means it's partially genetic and four years of French classes in secondary education didn't help much either...); I hope that being here may improve that...

Hehe.. I actually tried to work around using être because I got confused by a huge amount of tenses just before I dropped French at school (I already had more subjects than standard with just the science classes and the minimum amount of languages.)


Belges - I knew that
sont - ah, I was referencing 'la majorité', which is singular (nobody seems to agree on what to reference in this construction, at least in Dutch, so I just choose something and hope nobody complains.)

We had already been staking out on a good photo spot right in front of the main stage for about half an hour when I saw the group coming down Main Street, but by then it was already so crowded behind us that I couldn't move anymore. I had already hoped to see some furs that night, but I was still too dumbstruck to take any pictures (which wasn't possible anyway, it was too dark in that direction and I had no flash ready.) After we got back, I searched around a bit and found Rimou's* FA page with some information, leading me here. After that, it still took a long time before I dared to request an account...

J'ai donc l'honneur de te souhaiter la bienvenue au nom de tous les furs Belges sur ce forum alors (comme c'est ironique vu ma localisation actuelle). ^^

Tu as ete bien informe quant a l'endroit ou la majorite se trouvait, mais il existe egalement un forum neerlandophone (enfin il n'est pas vraiment dedie aux furs neerlandophones a la base). Et je connais une poignee de fur flamands tres frequentables. Oh, et tu peux m'envoyer des pms en neerlandais, ca ne me pose pas de problemes, je suis trilingue, mais evitons de parler neerlandais ici, ca serait un peu deplace sur un forum Francais ^^"

I know; your FA page persuaded me to create an account here (but I forgot how I found it; probably while looking for Belgian furs..) I'll try French whenever possible, but switch to English when it becomes too complicated or it would take too much time looking up the words (my English explanations are longer than the French ones for that reason.)

You have http://www.forum.furdome.com/ which is owned by a flemish fur, a few other flemish furries wander there but this forum is clearly not dedicated to belgian furries (more to therian, or "true" furries).

C'est tres honorable de ta part que de t'exercer dans cette belle langue ^^

I'll stick to english since we are in the english-speaking section of the forum, you're kindly invited to visit the french-speaking sections to exercice yourself. Don't hesitate to use spel-checkers, i noticed some easily corrected mistakes. But most of those you make are impossible to spot by a simple spell-checker, which means your level is good and you can only practice live to get all the finesses under the knee.

Enfin sinon bienvenue ici Tayi, comme dit précédemment profite en pour améliorer ton français (qui est déjà très bon), et ne t'inquiète pas, on est pas plus doué que toi, c'est juste que parler bien anglais, c'est presque normal sur internet, alors que le français tout le monde s'en fout. (même si on est incapable de prononcer un seul mot correctement. )

Anyway, welcome here Tayi, as said before, take advantage of your staying here to practice French (which is rather good imo), and don't worry, we're not more talented than you, it's just that on the internet, it's normal to speak (almost) fluent english, while no one gives a shit to french. (even though we can't prononce any word correctly )

Don't worry.. hardly anyone pronounces English correctly (I know some linguists who can point out glaring errors in anyone's pronunciation, including mine...)
I have no right to say anything about the french pronunciation of English anyway, ever heard a dutchman trying to pronounce French*? That's scary!

@Desim: hmm... spellcheckers... that's a very good idea! Do you know any good online spellchecker for French? (changing the language of the built-in spellchecker of Firefox might also be possible, but I haven't found any quick ways to do that just now...)

* speaking of which: the Dutch in general can't even use their own language properly, which is why they're continuously being beaten by the Flemish at language games.

If I tried to speak spanish or italian I'd spend a lot more than one hour, for sure.
Well, I guess it's part of learning a language, being slow and looking in the dictionnary for every sentence. You'll get faster, but only if you practice.

Have you considered installing the Google toolbar? Really worth the space taken on the menu-panel... the spellchecker is controllable in maximum 3 clicks to switch language and check the spelling.
